Happy Father’s Day!!!

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed by your name.

Your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven. (Mathew 6: 9-10, ESV)

Dad’s are just so special. While mom’s may have the bond that comes through the pain of childbirth dads have a much different, but no less strong, bond to their children. They didn’t feel them kick inside of them, or feel the first fluttering of life stirring. Instead, many dads describe the moment of seeing their child for the first time as life altering! I am so grateful that we live in a time and place that fathers are now accepted into birth journeys!

Amazing Biblical Father’s

Abraham

When I think of Biblical fathers of course Abraham is at the top of the list! His name means Father (Abram) of many (hamon). He is not just the father of the nation of Israel but he is the one whose lineage brings about Jesus fulfilling many prophesies the Lord gave. Abraham was incredibly faithful! When the Lord told him to sacrifice his son he obeyed. While he was not without flaws, he chooses to put his faith in the Lord and was amazingly rewarded!

All men who sacrifice for their families are amazing! Some men have to work away from their families in order to provide for them while some work at jobs they aren’t super passionate about just to get by. I pray for the fathers out their who are doing everything they can for their families! I pray that they will listen to God and make choices based on what the Lord tells him to.

Noah

Here is another example of a faithful servant of God who takes his family to great lengths in order to save them. Noah was the one Godly man in a world full of sin (hence it was destroyed by a flood). This is such a relevant example today when the world is full of people who let sin rule their lives! Noah teaches us that perseverance and unending faith will prevail.

There are many dads out their who may feel helpless right now. You are not alone because God is with you. To the women out their who live with a godly man I pray that you follow his ways! Can you imagine being Noah’s wife!? We have to have faith in our husbands and love them the way God loves us…even if we may not understand what God has put on their heart!

Joseph

If you look at the story of Joseph you can see how a Step-father can be no less important to a family unit. Joseph and Mary were betrothed when Mary told him she was pregnant with the son of God! Joseph wasn’t super enthusiastic about this and thought about leaving her in a way that would not disgrace her until an angle came and told him to trust her. Joseph trusted God and trusted Mary. He raised a son that was not his own and went on to have other children who also became disciples to Jesus.

To all the men out their who are raising children who are not their blood a huge thank you! As a single mom, we have huge fears about what this may look like. We are fierce mama bears when it comes to the protection of our children but we still want to be loved and cared for as well. Men who can love and accept our family as their own are amazing and deserve a ton of praises!

Prayer for Father’s Day

This fathers day I want to send out a prayer for all fathers out their! Blessings over them and their families. I pray a prayer of protection over the single fathers that they would not be burdened with too many difficult decisions and that Father God would lay a hand on them whenever they feel worrisome. I pray for all the grandfathers. I pray that they can enjoy their grandchildren and mentor their children to make good parenting choices. I pray for their health so they can see their grandchildren live and grow. I pray for the kids who may not have their fathers in their life, because of death or abandonment, and who therefore maybe hurting on this holiday. Lord we thank you for being our Father in Heaven who never waver in strength and who loves our unconditionally.

Amen

Many Blessings,

KARA

Thank you very much for this sweet post. Yes, there are needs in each one of us. But one need we must acknowledge is our need of exercising faith in God, in His Word, as these 3 men did.

Most of us, frankly don’t care which are God’s demands for us (Oh, we may sound very pious), but at the end of the day, we always want to do things our way and we don’t even care to see what God says about it.

These 3 men’s way of life would have condemned us.

    Hi Kara,

I think this is such a sweet post about Dads. And the details of Amazing Biblical Dad’s is so appropriate. I think we all need to be reminded once in a while that while mothers do a great deal, the contribution of fathers in the upbringing of the children is equal if not more.

Here’s to hardworking, honest and responsible Dads everywhere.

    Thanks.

    Aparna
